Let me introduce Kylie & Conner's new cousin, Hunter

Hunter Scott Crawford was born October 6, 2011. He looks just like his mommy!

Conner & Kylie both can't wait to play with him & teach him all kinds of things!

Beautiful fall days

We are trying to enjoy the weather as much as possible before it gets too cold. We've been park hopping lately. Trying to find an easily accessible, awesome park for both kids & friends. Today we visited the Ellendale Park & loved it. It was gorgeous with all the trees & the fall leaves. Conner is obsessed with leaves. As soon as he finds a leaf outside, he has to carry it around. No matter what else he wants to hold or pick up, the leaf stays in his hand. Sometimes, rocks & sticks will do. But if he's fussy in the stroller, hand him a couple leaves!

We are finishing up our Kindermusik semester. Conner really enjoys this time each week. He's a dance-a-holic! I'm not sure that we will do it again because of the age difference. Kylie has a hard time paying attention with all the baby-focused activities & songs. But they both love to dance to the CD's at home.

Conner is a talker. Kylie was always trying to talk but Conner is right there with her if not a little ahead of her talking. He's put together his 1st 2 sentences. #1: poo poo shoo shoo (oh, this one makes a daddy proud!) #2: UHN, DADA (he got mad that Curtis thought teeth brushing time was over, yanked the toothbrush out of Curtis' hands & in doing so, stabbed Curtis in the face with it.) I love new baby's communicating. Conner is cutting a molar & woke up at 4am. I picked him up & was digging around for the orajel & he said "teef" (teeth). So smart :) Then while I was rocking him (which he NEVER lets me do) he sat up & said "baba" So I asked if he wanted milk or water & he signed "milk".

Kylie is full of questions. Usually ones I can't answer. Or my answer isn't good enough for her. For example, "why is she driving a red car?" "Why is it called Rafferty's?" "Did Santa or Jesus make Rafferty's?"

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I absolutely love watching them play together. Kylie, of course, is the boss but Conner usually plays along great.

Birthday Party

So, it's only 6+ weeks late but here is the birthday party post! We had their party together. I guess we will do this for as long as they let us :) It's chaotic but doing 2 parties a week apart seems a little (or a lot) silly.

Kylie had a blast with her friends. They dressed up & played with all the new toys. Conner became obsessed with balloons.

Dauphin Island

We went to the beach last month. First time for both babies. They LOVED it. It was nice to relax & play with the kids. Conner still wasn't walking but he crawled around in the sand and did great with not putting things in his mouth. He loved finding shells and passing them out to people! Kylie loved building sand castles. Her absolute favorite was just lounging in her tube enjoying the waves.

Yikes, it's been a while!

Um, I'm a little behind! Whoops ;)

Conner started walking about 2 weeks before his birthday. He just kept practicing over & over! Then he practiced turning around. He pivots on one foot. It is adorable to watch. He's getting faster. Of course, now he's trying to gain speed.

He's also adding to his vocabulary. Let's see if I can list his words so far: ma ma, da da, "thithe" (sissy) (he used to try to call her 'yi ye' for Kylie), ball, car, turtle, duck, pup pup, night night, 'yack' for Jack, b nana, 'duece' for juice. He said wawa (water) & papaw this morning. He said good morn & zebra once!

Conner loves animals. His room is jungle themed & he loves pointing to all the animals & having us say what they are. He tries to repeat. It's cute. We were able to take a family trip to the zoo last week. Conner actually noticed the animals this time!

We started Kindermusik at the end of August. Conner LOVES it. I think Kylie is right on the edge of being too old for the class but she still enjoys it.

Kylie also started dance again a few weeks ago. Sometimes after dance we'll have a mommy/Kylie date at Lenny's or McDonald's. It seems so simple to grab dinner on the way home but Kylie thinks it's the most special thing in the world. My heart swells hearing her talk about it or telling Curtis about it when we get home.

We've been spending our days going to the Children's Museum, the zoo, Botanic Gardens Big Backyard, the park, the mall play area. Kylie would go to the Children's Museum everyday if I let her pick. Honestly, I'm totally bored with the place but now that Conner is walking I have a feeling we will be spending quite a bit of time there when it's too cold outside.

Staying busy!

We have been staying busy. The kids started Mother's Day Out 2 weeks ago. Kylie absolutely loves it. They do all kinds of fun stuff each week. This week is water week so they get to play in sprinklers & baby pools. Conner really seems to enjoy it also. He is always laughing & playing when I pick him up. He smiles & "talks" all the way down the hall!

Kylie's fever update: It's been over a month since her surgery. She's eating so much better. She had a low grade fever on the 4th. I gave her Motrin immediately because we were leaving for dance pictures. It never came back. The next week, she had all the other symptoms but no fever! She was complaining of headache, leg aches. She was fighting sleep & all around moody & cranky. But no fever.... Still crossing my fingers for no more fevers.

Crunchy stuff & 9 month check-up

Kylie was able to eat crunchy stuff again starting last Thursday. She was so very excited. She had 2 bowls of Kix & then toast for breakfast. She started behaving so much better & playing again. I think she was so cranky because she was hardly eating anything. She's been an angel....until today :) She was pretty bad today. She said her head & legs hurt. I read many stories about tonsillectomy's for the periodic fevers & many parents say that the fevers go away after the surgery but all the other "symptoms" still show up periodically. While this makes me sad that she could still have these "symptoms" every 4 weeks. I will be very thankful if the fevers themselves stay away. Only time will tell.

Last Wednesday we went to play at Jamie's house with Addie & Jack. After Conner's nap he found a dead spider & ate it. He had 2 legs on his face & I got one leg out of his mouth. The rest went down. I was horrified & disgusted. The doctor didn't even know what to do so I had to call Poison Control. They said any dead spider is fine. You're in trouble if a LIVE poisonous spider bites you. So, after all this, I got the van packed up and went into the kitchen to fill up Kylie's cup. I walked back into their living room and Conner was sitting on the couch. All by himself! He stepped onto a child's chair & somehow got himself onto the couch with both toys that he had been playing with. Neither of the girls saw him because Dora was on the television..........

We had Conner's 9 month check up last Thursday. He's perfectly healthy & has met all of his milestones. He's 28 in. long & 20 lbs 7 oz. Kylie was 29.5 in & 20 lb 10 oz at her 9 month appointment.

Kylie's dance recital is Saturday. I cannot wait to see how that goes!

Yes, she picked him up!

Recovering & waiting...

Kylie had her tonsils out yesterday. She did better than I expected before & after. She's feeling better than I thought she would but I know that it can change any day for the next 2 weeks. She keeps getting upset that she can't eat cereal. The Tylenol with Codeine made her crazy. She was seriously bouncing off the furniture, which she is not supposed to be doing. So they changed her pain meds to Loratab which seems to be doing much better.

Curtis took her to Wal-Mart, the gas station & the car wash at 9pm to wait on the crazy Codeine to wear off. When they got home, I asked her to take her sandals off. She managed to get one off, came running into our bedroom, pulled the baby tub out, started to take her clothes off, I told her to simmer down, so she ran over to my nightstand to write on my to-do list..... all of this was within 5 seconds. She just could NOT focus or listen with that medicine. It was funny & sad at the same time. She was nuts. But...I was thinking as I went to sleep last night *maybe I should try some & see how fast I can get the house clean!* Of course, my luck, I would just fall dead asleep.

I'm waiting on her next fever. I've read so many stories about the fevers never returning after having the tonsils removed BUT I've read some stories about the fevers never stopping regardless. So, it's a waiting game for me. I'm sure it will be for a few months. I'm won't know what do to with myself if she becomes fever-free. I really hope, for her sake, that the fevers are over.

In the meantime, here's what Conner's been up to

Spending time with family

We've spent the past few days with family. Lots of pictures to share, so I'm going to post a link below. Conner & Kylie got to meet Braden! Conner really wanted to grab his nose & Kylie just wanted to man handle him :) But Braden did survive, I think. Kylie loved the attention from Grandma & did not want her to leave.

I'm trying to prepare for Kylie's surgery. Mostly mentally! I feel like I have a million errands to run & that's almost impossible with 2 little ones. I'm not sure who discussed her tonsillectomy with her but last night at bedtime she was freaking out & saying it was bad to get your tonsils out. I talked to her about it today & she seems okay. I know she's going to freak out when we get to the surgery center & I know she's going to be nuts when she wakes up from surgery. I just hope everything goes as smooth as possible.

Smart Little Man :)

I'm a little worried about Conner becoming obsessed with a lovely & having to take it everywhere & then having a meltdown when it gets lost. So, he's got 2 little lovely things he sleeps with but this mean mommy makes him leave them in his bed! He usually tries to grab one when I pick him up so I started telling him we need to put it back in the bed & I'd grab it & drop it in the bed. After a few times, he learned how to turn & drop it back in by himself!

If he has a pacifier, I let him keep it. That will be a whole other battle in the future! But this morning I got him out of bed & was kissing on him. He took the paci out of his mouth & turned around & dropped it in the bed!

Genius?!

Love this face!

Fun, productive day at home

It's interesting trying to accomplish things around the house with 2 little running around. But I've managed to organize our closet & make some room on the book shelf in the office for some of Kylie's things. I'm also trying to post maternity clothes on eBay to make some money for all the lovely medical bills!

Kylie ate tons of green beans & corn at lunch. Even though she asked for Mac n Cheese. Conner loved the few noodles I let him eat!

Then Kylie let me lower the play kitchen so Conner can reach it. (He kept falling trying to play with everything)

Hoping to get to the park after naps so Kylie can run around.

And, um, she wants Grandma here NOW. Not in 4 days. TODAY!
